ART IS a moist party bag of self connected disease and reportable fascination

WE ARE SCIENCE! explores how truth emerges in the interactions of the moment. Through improvised performances and interactive installations, thought DJs Adam Good and Jon Lee remix fragments of words, sounds, movements, and experiences to unlock the unexpected, the inexplicable, and the profoundly obvious.
There’s really no right or certain way to describe these guys. I think you just have to experience them. I began this journey to attain some familiarity through watching the various performance videos on their website.
I was very interested in their interactive word remix project, ART IS. What they did was take words that certain artists used to describe their own artwork, feelings, experiences, etc. They then made note cards with these individual words on each.
The idea is to use these cards of words to complete the prompt ART IS and give it a spontaneous definition. Watch this short interactive performance below to see the experiment in action.
“Art Is ____” at The Phillips Collection. from The Pink Line Project on Vimeo.
What I’ve done for this photo is I watched their THIS IS WHAT I BROUGHT video. I jotted down keywords that they used throughout that specific performance. I then wrote these words onto note cards and thumbtacked them to my wall. I added some vinyl lettering of the prompt ART IS and then chose my definition from the words. I post processed the photo by de-saturating the red wall color to black to create more clarity and contrast with the cards.
Challenge: Quickly create your own interpretation from this finite set of words. Finish the prompt ART IS using any of the words in the photo and add it in the comments. You may add simple words between or change the tense of the words as you go. Don’t leave this page without doing this or you’ll have many years of bad luck and attic gnomes will repel down upon you while you sleep and scratch your eyes out (and you don’t want that).
It’s also Jon Lee’s birthday today, so err one wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Big thanks to my girlfriend for her help creating these cards and setting it all up. We took the cards down from the wall and tossed them on top of a poker table as an alternate shot. This is her quick interpretation to the experiment. ART IS a drowning theory dieing to unlock the time keeper.
