MCG hosted family-friendly festivities including an ice-cream social, face painting, magic, drinks, healthy snacks, including Clif Kid Twisted Fruit, and an art auction with 50% of art sales going to the children served by the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center.

MCG is also hoping to encourage attendees to register on-site for the upcoming Denver Century – 22-mile Family Ride which follows the Platte River Greenway Trail from Invesco Field to Littleton. 10 registrations earn the Children’s Law Center a free registration to give to a foster family! I met Suzan at Centennial Park in Boulder on a clear warm morning. We hiked a short ways up the trail and found a great spot to stop and get some photos in and around the magnificent rock formations. Suzan immediately backed up her self proclaimed natural and adventurous personality as she climbed around some precarious slots and holds to get the best shots possible. At that moment, I knew the rest of the day would be fun as we could push the boundaries of what most people are normally willing to do for good photos.

The next couple of hours found us taking in the views overlooking downtown Boulder, climbing trees, and wading in the creek. She’s beautiful. She’s brilliant. She’s fun + outgoing, and I’d trust her skills anytime for business strategy, organization, and coaching.

I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, the conversation, and the company with Suzan and felt comfortable and relaxed throughout. She made my job easy and it was one of the most memorable photo shoots I’ve had.

Shelly Knight and kids book a day for photos and Prints as a gift for the best stay-at-home Dad in the world for Father’s Day. I met Shelly and the kids at Foothills Community Park in Boulder, CO for the shoot.

We decided to go for more of a candid and natural approach and capture the kids as they were playing. With a couple quick posed shots thrown in, here are some frames from the shoot.

Gwen Bell is on the cover of the May issue of Experience Life magazine and they did a magazine tour to get the word out — both about the magazine and about the power of social media to spread great ideas in innovative ways.

The 5 stop tour included local Denver/Boulder spots including Delight, Atlas Purveyors, Boulder Bookstore, Gwen Bell’s Peart St. office, and The Bitter Bar.

Gwen Bell, the greatest little social web practitioner around, graces the cover of the May issue of Experience Life magazine. Beyond the cover story, Bell teamed up with, editor in chief, Pilar Gerasimo and developed a 5 stop Zine Tour. The campaign aims to accomplish a few different things through getting the word out about the magazine (which already has a reach of over 2 million), to demonstrate how the power of social media can spread great ideas, and to highlight some of the best local businesses along the way in the Denver/Boulder area.

The first stop on the tour kicks off tonight at 6pm at Delight.com warehouse – 1111 S Bannock St, Denver, CO and I hear rumors that a Cupcake Truck is going to roll up at some point and deliver some goods.

Bell approaches her social media trainings and lessons as what she describes as ‘laptop yoga’. Technology has brought an influx of information and client relations for businesses to sort through and a plethora of devices and portals to help them remain connected to it. She’s able to enlighten clients on the latest social tools, how to best utilize each, and also how to step away to live a healthy, balanced life.

Experience Life is a publication that’s dedicated to healthy living and this month’s feature of Bell makes perfect sense in showing us how to navigate through this overwhelming tech boom without burning out.

I’m honored to have the opportunity to cover and document Gwen and the tour. I met with Gwen yesterday at her Pearl Street Mall practice for some fun promo photos. She had the idea to interpret the balance of technology and her yoga practices. We setup two yoga mats on Pearl to capture each, her and the laptop, working out together and pulling back from the hustle to clear the mind and re-energize. Check out more photos after the jump. Gavin Wong booked today to gift a Print to his wife for her birthday. He mentioned that she liked photos with high contrast clouds at sunset.

I asked if he thought she would want a cityscape or landscape scene. Since they live in New York and see the city everyday, we decided to try for a landscape sunset.

I captured this in South Boulder as the sun was setting behind the Flatirons. I processed this photo to have sort of a dreamy and color faded style to add to the drama of the clouds.

I hope she enjoys the Print and it provides a daily glimpse into the serenity of a western landscape normally unwitnessed. Happy Birthday Mrs. Wong!

Patrons and Staff of The Happy Noodle in Boulder, CO have reason to be a bit “happier” today. Mark Stoddard, a mixologist at the Happy Noodles late-night alter ego The Bitter Bar, won Gold in the 42 Below Cocktail World Cup event in New Zealand.

Along with fellow team members Todd Thrasher of Washington, D.C. and Sean Hoard of New York City, Team USA beat out 21 other bartenders from 7 other countries. The event occurred over the past 5 days and consisted of outlandish cocktail challenges involving bungee jumping and boat racing.

Stoddard won two preliminary competitions in Denver and New York City respectively to make the 3 person team competing for the Cup in New Zealand. Winning the Gold Cup is a huge accomplishment for Stoddard and The Bitter Bar as it puts Boulder on the map as one of the top places in the world to obtain a craft cocktail that’s perfectly prepared.

In just over a year, owner and mixologist James Lee, along with Stoddard’s help, have established The Bitter Bar as one of the premiere bars in the country. Operating, tongue and cheek, with a true speakeasy atmosphere, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better place to lounge and enjoy the conversation and company of friends while enjoying a “Gold” standard hand-crafted cocktail.
